Oh, Baby! 4 Fun Ways of Sharing the News in Sweet Style!

Posted by Mitch Brunscheen on

Obviously we're huge fans of baby showers and baby reveals, I mean, who wants a baby in hiding???

We especially love hearing how you share the big news. Setting off blue or pink smoke bombs, signature mocktails featuring both blue and pink options, stripteases with blue or pink swimsuits underneath (Oh, Baby!), are just a few of our favorites we've heard so far, but truly, our absolute favorites feature candy front and center... of course!  Here are some of our top picks we've heard about from our favorite candy fans.

  1. Baby Reveal Cakes - These are just so much fun. The idea that no one knows girl? or boy? until the cake is cut is such a fun and sweet method to make a big splash with the news. Betty Crocker has a great concept that's super simple.  When you're ready to make your own, we've got a few candies that may fit nicely inside! We are LOVING Betty Crocker's Baby Reveal Cake!
  2. Buttermint Poll - We love this one for its incredible simplicity. Remembering back to when we were spreading our own news, we had SO much else to worry about, a super elaborate party was not high on our priority list. So we can totally relate to the appeal of simply ordering a bag of buttermints and having people choose the one they think the baby will be... blue for "boy"... pink for "girl"... ? for "haven't got a clue, but I'd love a mint!" You can set this game up anyway you'd like, maybe you just ask a few friends to pick their choice, or perhaps you sit in a circle and send around a bowl of candy, letting everyone choose a mint, then a bowl to put their empty wrappers in to "vote." We've even heard of leaving out a bowl of baby reveal mints for the duration of a party and having guests write their names on their empty wrappers with a Sharpie before dropping them in a bowl for a raffle later. To reveal, mom, dad or even a sibling can pick the "answer" to unwrap and pop in their mouth in front of everyone, or select a corresponding wrapper from the wrapper bowl.
  3. Let the Favors do the Talking - Share pink for girls or blue for boys favors like our signature rock candy, or fill opaque bags or boxes with sweet treats in baby's signature color! Your guests won't know baby's gender until they open their favor. For that one friend that may not get the hint, you may want to throw in a few cute Baby Girl or Baby Boy buttermints. If you really want to make make a splash, jazz up your treats with some sparkle like Candy Envy customer, CBS:Add some bling to lollipop sticks or rock candy handles like Candy Envy client CBS
  4. Strategic Candy Buffet Sampling - As baby's parents, only eat the pink for girls or blue for boys. Don't tell ANYone of your strategic snacking. Later in the party have guests guess baby's gender. You may even want to drop the hint that you only ate candy of baby's signature color. See how many people paid attention! Of course you may give yourself away a bit more if you're sporting a blue tongue or have a pink lolly in hand!
